The Power of a Single Parisian Piano…

One day after the carnage in Paris, German pianist Davide Martello wheeled his grand piano up to the Bataclan, the site of the largest attack, and performed John Lennon’s IMAGINE.  Illustrating so powerfully what the truest power of music can be – to unite, heal, educate and minister.

Surrounded by photographers and onlookers, Martello performed the poignant song.  He has a history of appearing at socially significant events, playing a set at the protests in Istanbul’s Gezi Park in 2013.

NYC Panhandler makes $200/hr. We’re in the wrong job…

According to today’s NY Post, Will Andersen and his nine year old dog, Rizzo, take their spot outside New York City’s Grand Central Terminal and rake in up to $200/hr panhandling in prime time slots.

The 43-year old former stagehand is not the only street-smart street person out there, the article claims.

No longer homeless, he now has an apartment in Inwood, from the income he makes with his pooch-prop by his side.

The new spotlight on these hustlers is due to NY Police Commissioner Bratton’s comments yesterday that if New Yorkers really wanted to get rid of vagrants, they should just stop giving.

Fortunately, the commish hasn’t visited the Dueling Piano bar yet.

Miley Cyrus Licks Piano at Auction. Value Goes up to $50K…

Miley-Cyrus

Well, that’s one way to increase the value of your organ.

This past Saturday, at the LGBT Center auction in LA, Miley lent her most vocal support to the sale of Linda Perry’s autographed white piano…by licking it.

There to receive the Vanguard Award for the work done with her own Happy Hippie Foundation for LGBT youth, Miley whetted the appetites of the bidders when she put her organ on the piano (sorry…)

The instrument would up selling for $50,000.

“I want all of you to know that I feel beyond grateful to be in a room full of so many…people who care so much about others because unfortunately that is way too rare in the world that we live in today,” Cyrus told the audience after accepting her award. “I’m thinking of tonight not as celebrating what we’ve already done but what we’re doing and what we’re going to do in the future.”

Another New Musical From a Shake Rattle & Roll Member

This seems to be quite the busy week for our family of performers and big announcements.

Pianist extraordinaire Paul Leschen (Paulie Fingers) has built himself quite a resume’ in the NYC theater scene, from playing and music directing some of downtown’s hottest cabaret performers, to composing music for the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway musical “BEDBUGS!”

Now, Paul is back with his BEDBUGS! writing partner, Fred Sauter, and their new show, THE ASTRONAUT LOVE SHOW.  It’s running this month in NYC, and if you use the promo code BUGLOVE, you can get 10% off your tickets.

Shake Rattle & Roll Dueling Pianos Team Member Heading to BROADWAY!

Nothing makes us happier than a good prediction coming true.

We’ve been saying to anyone that would listen, that our very own Nate Hopkins, dueling pianos wunderkind and acting phenom, would be destined for Broadway within two years.

And it looks like our bet is on the money.

Nate is now finishing up the regional production of THE BANDSTAND at the Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ, and it was just announced moments ago that the show will be transferring to Broadway in the 2016-17 season.

Congratulations to Nate, and all the cast members, and break a leg!!!
